Lehpi - Undead Warlock

Postby lehpi » Tue Mar 09, 2010 6:44 pm

1. Name? Level, Class, and Race of your character?
- Lehpi, 80, Warlock, Undead.

2. PICTURE OF UI. Take a picture of your UI while IN A RAID (preferably a 25) and post a link here. (Do not Alt+Z it. We want to see everything). This is very important. Think about it and you'll understand why.
I don't like to clog my screen up with useless UI's, but this screen shot has pretty much all of them.

-DoTimer
-Event Alerter
-DBM
-Recount

3a. How old are you? What Time Zone do you play in?
- 21, Eastern.

3b. What times are you available for raiding in EST? We raid Wed, Thur, Sun, & Mon from 9EST-1EST. We've been known to stay up as late as 3EST to push forward to kill new content. You have to be willing to lose sleep if you want to be a champion.
- I can make it to every raid, otherwise I will inform my class leader/officer about the situation.

3c. Do you go to school? If so, for what? If not, why? (Why do we care? We don't want unedumacated hillbillies in our guild)
- Yes, I am pursuing a degree in Computer Science.

3d. Do you have a job? If so, what do you do and when do you work? Is your current job demanding? (ie if we invite you are going to dodge 90% of the raids!?)
- No, I am a full time student with lots of spare time.

4a. What kind of computer do you have? List specs, but be brief.
- HP Pavilion dv7 notebook PC, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT Graphics card.

4b. How stable is your internet connection? Do you have Comcast and disconnect every 5 minutes, or do you live in Australia and have a 500 ping constantly?
- I use campus internet and it is very stable.

5a. What is your current PvE Gear setup? A Link to your Armory profile is ideal. Don't make us fish for it. Please log out in PvE gear.

5b. Provide a recent parse from worldoflogs.com or a recount breakdown on a target dummy or recent raid (the longer the better)
http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/8577 ... 192639.jpg

6a. What is your current talent spec look like and why?
- 0/56/15 demonology
This talent distribution takes care of the spell power raid buff and also gives my pet and I a maximum dps output.

6b. Why did you choose the spec you did? Are you a closet ret pally but spec holy just to get in raids?
- I have played affliction and destruction prior to this patch and I wanted to try something new. Aside from the big numbers it is also great for raid synergy.

6c. What do you consider your role in a raid to be? (Hint: Put a lot of thought into this question)
-A high dps and support class.

7a. Do you have your epic flying mount? How much gold do you currently have?
-Yes, around 5k

7b. What are your professions? Why?
-Tailoring 450, because of the cloak enchant and of course the free leg enchant, but mainly because it was to make the guild cloth items as we progressed.
-Jewelcrafting 442, I can hit 450 no problem, but I just see no point to it because I only picked this profession for PvP gems.

8. Do you have a microphone? If so, do you have an annoying voice? (We use ventrilo btw)
-Yes, I have a mic and I think I have a beautiful and enchanting voice, but I digress.

9a. Is this your original character? Was this account given to you and/or did you purchase it to avoid leveling? (Are you EBAYED!?)
-This is my original character.

9b. What alts do you have? Do you have anything that could be of use in future raiding? (aka do you have another character that has horrible gear that you'd rather be playing!?)
- Warrior 80 Undead, this was my first character that I recently leveled. He has gear to tank 10/25 ICC normal, but I usually PvP on this toon.

10. Do you enjoy PvPing or do you consider yourself more of a care-bear? (That's fine, we need care-bears too)
-I enjoy PvP more than anything in this game. I have been doing BGs/Arenas since 60. My warrior has rank 12 title and my Warlock has Gladiator from 2 seasons.

10b. Have you ever arena'd seriously in the past. Did you hit Gladiator?
-Yes, I have arena'd seriously since season 6, and I hit Gladiator in season 6 and 7. Also planning on hitting Glad this season.

11. What prior guilds have you been in? Why did you leave those/that guild(s)? What role did you play in those guilds? Please, don't spare any juicy details, WE LOVE DRAMA! (This should be your longest answer)
-I'll leave the guilds that I was in for a short time(< 1 or 2 days).
Omen - This guild was 3rd on this server during Sunwell. It fell apart after the main tank and his buddies left the guild due to some item issues and someones DKP being scrapped. I left because I was starting college and I was too busy to fit the raid schedule.

Wreckless - My real life friends and the people who left Omen started this guild. We were casual guild and progressed fairly well through Naxx/Uld/ToC, but a few core left the guild over Aion and so we took a break from raiding. We came back and re-recruited some players and tried ICC out and managed to kill 8/12 bosses. This guild stopped raiding because some core decided to stop playing the game completely and some decided to transfer off to PvP.

12. Why do you want to be in Damage Networks? (ie Why did you app to our stupid guild instead of the 300 more awesome guilds)
-To kill the Lich king. To kill the Lich king in heroic for server first. I like competition and this would be perfect to compete for against other top PvE guilds on this server.

13. Who are people in Damage Networks that you've grouped/played with before that could possibly vouch for you?
-Njo, He is on my 5s team.

14a. Do you have any noteworthy accomplishments pre WotLK? (I.E. server firsts, actively raided every instance, etc.)
-I don't know how to prove this one since achievements came out after TBC, but if you take my word for it..I cleared all the instances in TBC except Sunwell. Only killed up to Felmyst pre nerf and then I quit the game due to college.

14b. Do you have any noteworthy achievements to prove you’re not casual? (I.E. Alone in the Dark, Firefighter, Twilight Zone (pre zerg strat), The Insane, Arenamaster, etc).
-Gladiator, Arena Master, A Tribute to Mad Skill. Aside from that Wreckless was a casual guild.

15. Random, Possibly Inconsequential Questions (NOTE: Don’t plagiarize! List your sources for your answers, whether it’s your first-hand knowledge of the fight or the site you googled)

  1. How much damage does C’Thun’s rotating eye beam do?
Never did this fight only cleared to the scorpion boss.
    Eye Beam (Green beam) - 2,625 - 3,375 Nature damage.(WoWWiki)
Dark Glare (Red beam) - 43,750-56,250 Shadow damage.(WoWWiki)

  2. On Kil’jaeden, which class’s sinister reflections were the most difficult to control and why?
    - Never finished Sunwell but...Mages, because they cast a very quick fireball that can wipe the raid if not spell refflected or interrupted.(WoWWiki)

  3. Which encounter in Naxx is it essential to cleanse or decurse the raid? (without doing so is a certain wipe)
    - Noth

  4. Which encounter in Naxx is it essential NOT to cleanse or decurse the raid (doing so nearly guarantees a wipe)
    - Grobulus.

  5. How do demolishers obtain maximum DPS on Flame Leviathan? What is the expected DPS they should achieve in a 25-man raid?
-Keep they pyrite stacked up, don't know the exact number but below the siege gunners should be reasonable.

  6. What ability does Steelbreaker get when Runemaster Molgeim and Stormcaller Brundir die?
-After the first Supercharge (1 boss down), Steelbreaker will gain an AoE that increases Nature damage taken, so all raid members will need to watch for it. The second Supercharge (2 bosses down, Steelbreaker is the last one alive), Steelbreaker will debuff his tank with a debuff that causes the tank to explode after 60 seconds, so the raid will need to have other tanks ready.(Wowhead)

  7. Which NPC is most important to break out of Flash Freeze in the Hodir encounter and why?
-The priest, so she can dispel the others.

  8. How many transitions of adds does Freya have?
    - 6

  9. How do you pull head unit down on Mimiron phase 3?
-Loot cores and put them under his head.

  10. What makes hard mode General Vezax especially difficult for ranged?
-Avoid shadow crash, have enough mana to kill animus, and spread for life leech.(WoWwiki)

  11. How many people can take the portal into Yogg-Saron’s brain in 10-man and 25-man? Which classes should take the portal?
- 10m - 4 players
- 25m - 10 players
- Shaman is a must for Bloodlust, aside from that rogues, hunters(pack), and fury warriors are good. I went in sometimes as destruction if someone assigned to portal had already died.

16a. Did you read the application guidelines?
-Yes.

16b. What website/post/person were you directed here by?
-Gorefiend forums recruitment post.

BONUS:
Where does Thorim claim to remember you from?
-From the mountains!

Your gear is what we're looking for, you obviously have a fairly good understanding of your class, and it's perfect that you prefer demo as well as your main spec, as I'm usually the only warlock in a raid at any given time.

It'd be nice to be able to have another demo lock in raid so I can pick whichever spec I feel like playing that night, depending on what the fight requires.

Your demo spec is correct, I prefer to put 2 points in improved healthstone over maxing demonic embrace, as I feel it provides more utility to the raid and the 8% stamina albeit nice, isn't make or break for me.

A couple concerns from my perspective, the first being when you did your damage parse on the test dummy you chose the undead training dummy, in which your felguard will cleave the grandmaster dummy next to it, upping your dps. Also, you CoD'd when you were by yourself, which isn't good for damage if you don't have the 13% magic debuff on the target (granted you could have had someone else put that on the dummy then take the screen shot after it wore off)

Next, the meta in your helm is ridiculously bad...there's no alternative to Chaotic Skyflare diamond.

Additionally, I'm not sure if you got the t10 264 pants from VoA, or if you bought them, but they're the single worst piece in the set....they could potentially be a part of the BiS list for RDPS demo locks, but even then they're not that great when there's alternatives like Plaugebringer's stained pants, etc. In the end if you're using the gunship mittens like you are, the trade off isn't much different since the tier legs have hit and crit, just like the tier gloves. In my opinion it's better to get the gloves and get good pants for other warlock specs.

Finally, the other concern (not a big one at all, more of ocd from my part) is that you have 1 minor glyph. I realize that the warlock minor glyphs aren't very useful whatsoever, but there's really no reason not to have all 3.

I'm probably being overly critical since I'm the only consistent raiding warlock. None of my criticism is a deal breaker, as it seems you know what you're doing.

Since we've transferred to the server, we've recruited several good players, transfers and natives, so the only other question I'd have for you is if you're willing to be a reserve and come in when needed on any given night? We frequently have people who have to leave early, or who have RL shit come up and can't make it. Trust me I will lobby for 2 warlocks in a raid every night if it's feasible, I'm just not in a position where I can absolutely guarantee you a raid spot every night.

Hopefully I didn't scare you away, you're by far the best warlock app we've had.

No not at all, let me comment on your concerns though its only fair...

1. I was actually in a hurry to run to a 10m ICC on an alt and thus wanted to get a quick recount report up...so don't mind the stupidity of CoD, pet cleave, and such.
2. Yes, I am aware of the t10 legs being the worst in the set, but they were free from VoA :) so why not. I also have gloves, but I am waiting to get some saronites to make leggings of woven death.
3. I used the meta gem for affliction which was my spec prior to this app, it was an easy mistake I over looked in gemming.
4. I actually have all minor glyphs, but in my PvP spec! I never though twice to add them to my other spec because of the uselessness, but I will gladly put some in.
5. I am fine with sitting, it's probably the only way I will get some home work done. That in mind I also do not want to sit out an entire week of raids.
